Ryan Place

The Fort Worth neighborhood, Ryan Place, located close to the Fort Worth Central Business District. Ryan Place area is named after it's first residents, developer John C. Ryan and his wife, Elizabeth Willing Ryan. They wanted something special, something exclusive...so theycreated Ryan Place with entrance gates on the east and west ends of Elizabeth Boulevard.

Wealth dominated the area giving rise to the stately homes along Elizabeth Avenue, partially due to the discovery of major oil fields. But, as the Great Depression gripped the land, Ryan Place began to decline. Soon the beautiful gates were torn down for road widening.

In 1969, the residents of the Fort Worth, Texas neighborhood formed the Ryan Place Improvement Association to fight the decline of their beloved area. Successful, the Ryan Place Candlelight Tour was formed to raise money and replace the gates. Now, Elizabeth Blvd. is in the National Register of Historic Places, the first such in Tarrant County.

Neighborhood

This beautiful, historic neighborhood with tree lined streets and old-fashioned streetlights contains homes larger and more elaborate than the homes further south. The homes range from Prairie style to Mediterranean and most are one story.
