Burleson Texas Real EstateBurleson, located 12 miles south of downtown Fort Worth, has become a commercial hub of Johnson County and one of the most livable communities in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. Founded in 1881, the city was named for Dr. Rufus C. Burleson, President of Baylor University at Waco. The official incorporation as a Town came in 1912. Burleson was made a "City" in 1938, and adopted a Home Rule Charter as a council-manager government in 1969. The City continued its growth during the 1940's and 1950's as an independent community located near Fort Worth. Over the years, Burleson has grown to a population of over 30,300. The heritage of the community is strong and is kept alive through the Burleson Heritage Foundation. Although the City has greatly enlarged its borders, Old Town remains the center of Burleson. Because of the existence of still a very active center, quality commerce, and quiet living areas, it is appropriate to plan for a concerted preservation and development effort for the Old Town area. Banking, commercial trade, and a supportive residential area grew rapidly in the Old Town area, serving a growing community deeply rooted in the railroad and farming activities. In 2004, the Fort Worth Business Press, recognized Burleson as the third fastest-growing residential community in Tarrant County with a growth rate of 13.79%. Families are choosing the city for the strong sense of community, proximity to the Metroplex, excellent schools, and low crime rate. Major companies are taking notice of Burleson's pro-business climate, available labor force, and easy access to major interstates, railways and airports. Large retailers are targeting Burleson as a shopping destination for 500,000 people in Johnson and southwest Tarrant counties. Smart commuters are discovering that Burleson is just 12 short miles from downtown Fort Worth. Close proximity to Fort Worth and Dallas make Burleson an attractive shipping point for manufactured products. Interstate 20 is just eight miles north, while Interstate 35W and State Highway 174 intersect in Burleson, providing easy access to major markets by truck. Two major rail lines (the Union Pacific and the Burlington Northern Santa Fe), serve the area. Both Alliance Airport and Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport are within 45 minutes of Burleson.
